ABOUT BETTER TOGETHER
The Better Together Zine focuses on the relationship between Captain America (Steve Rogers) and Iron Man (Tony Stark) throughout the years, and across multiple universes. These two heroes have built a bond that is as tough as diamonds, going through a number of missions and events that have tested that very relationship – but just as diamonds are formed under pressure, so was the relationship of these two co-leaders.
Despite the hardships they have faced in the past, they always come out stronger, together.
Our theme is focused on their upcoming diamond anniversary (that's a whole 60 years!), aiming to celebrate the love, dedication and perseverance the two have shown over the years – showing that the two are truly better together. We want to emphasize their simmering chemistry and want to focus on how precious they are not only to us, but to one another.
This zine is made for fandom, by fandom, and can be something to be treasured for years to come.

Who runs this zine?
We have a great fandom-centric team involved. Refer to the mod page!
Will the zine be physical or digital?
The zine will be available both digitally (PDF) and physically.
Will the zine be for charity or for profit?
Our aim is to donate to several charities— Rainbow Railroad, Red Canary Song, The Organisation for Transformative Works, Planned Parenthood, World Central Kitchen, Mind, and PFLAG—however, if we do not meet our contribution goal all profit will be donated to Rainbow Railroad as our primary charity, as it is has a worldwide reach, with issues that affect many people within fandom.
Can other ships or characters be featured in the zine?
Mentioning other characters is acceptable, but the focus should be on Steve and Tony's relationship.
NSFW?
The zine will be 18+, but there will not be any sexually explicit content.
Is there an age limit to contributors?
18+. Anyone that is found to not be 18+ will unfortunately be rejected.
How many contributors?
We're looking to include about 50 contributors in total between artists and writers, which will give our zine plenty of room for your wonderful creations and truly showcase the contributors we have involved.
Will contributors be compensated?
Yes, all contributors will at minimum receive the full printed copy of the zine. Additional items will depend on further sales.
When will we know if we've been accepted?
We estimate roughly a week after applications close for all contributors to be contacted. However please check social media for frequent updates and information, and our CuriousCat is always open for any questions you may have.
Will artists offering merch be responsible for the production process?
We aim to internalise all of the production, so artists offering merch will not be responsible for the production process. They will be contacted by mods for more information regarding what we require.
How long do contributors have to confirm their acceptance?
Once you have received your acceptance correspondence, you have a week to confirm your acceptance by following the instructions in the email. Be sure to check your spam folders regularly just in case. If you do not confirm in time, your spot may be given away!
Are AUs allowed?
The zine celebrates Steve and Tony and their love which expands across the multiverse, so we're looking for a diverse amount of universes to include. AUs may be included but please be sure to contact a mod if you’re unsure.
As a contributor, how can we submit our work?
Check out your acceptance email for instructions and more information. You will be provided with detailed specs, but as always, the team is always here to support you if you have any questions at all. Please don’t be shy!
What are the zine specs?
The zine will be 7x10. In terms of specific output for artists, refer to the image below! Artists must create their work at least 7.25in x 10.25in in size. Do not draw important information (ie. faces of characters or other significant details) on the edges!
What rating of content is accepted? Word count?
Guidance for writers: we’re going with Ao3’s ratings and keeping works in the Zine no higher than a Mature rating. No Not Rated and Explicit content. Please see the graphic for information, and if you have any questions then contact us. The word count we want you to aim for is 3,000 words due to our layout and space already allocated for fics.

How is the application process going to be like?
Each applicant will fill out a form which will require you to share previous work (do not create new work specifically for us before you're accepted into the zine). Applicants cannot be anonymous as we need to know who you are to be able to contact you! We will be accepting applications from creators of all levels. We're looking to fill around 50 slots in total (artists + writers combined) and we're excited to see your work!
Will writers have input on what verses they want to write?
Yes! When you apply to be a contributor, we will be asking creators to indicate two universes they would be willing to create content for (in the end you create for just one universe). We're aiming to be as diverse as possible. Any universe will be accepted, so long as you're comfortable with it and the content you would later produce in relation to the Diamond Anniversary.
Would there be an option for a NSFW/SFW version or is it just one or the other?
The zine is 18+ for contributors, and will only be one publication. Although we aren't including sexually explicit content, tasteful nudity will be accepted. There will not be a separate section or zine for NSFW content.
Are you going to allow writers and artists to collaborate within the zine?
We're definitely opening up artist and writer collaborations for the zine. The application form has more details!
Why is the zine about SteveTony's Diamond Anniversary?
Captain America and Iron Man first encountered one another in Avengers Issue #4, which would make it their diamond anniversary in 2 years. If 2020 has taught us anything, it's that we need causes to celebrate, so why not celebrate early? We aim to have this zine in your hands before their official diamond anniversary so you can celebrate in style.
